He was a farmer. He was the son of the late Benny and Gracie Simpson Burton of Adair County, KY. His wife, Elizabeth Burton, survives. He was the patriarch of a large, respected family, leaving 25 direct living descendants. His final resting place will be in the Walker Cemetery

Gary Lee "Curly" Burton age 67 of Edmonton passed away Friday, March 23, 2018 in Knob Lick, KY.

Funeral services will be held 1pmCT, Wednesday March 28, 2018 at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY, with burial in the Walker Cemetery. Visitation will be 4pm-8pmCT, Tuesday, March 27, 2018, and after 9amCT, Wednesday at the funeral home.



Gary Lee (Curly) Burton, Metcalfe Co./Adair Co. KY native (1950-2018)


Born August 29, 1950, in Adair County, KY, he was the son of the late Benny and Gracie Simpson Burton. He died Friday, March 23, 2018, in Knob Lick, Metcalfe County, KY, at the age of 67 years, six months, and 23 days.

He was disabled farmer.

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Burton of Edmonton, KY, and the following:
  • Four daughters: Lisa (Larry) Morgan of Three Springs, KY; Michelle Sherfey of Horse Cave, KY; Pam Tomblin of Edmonton, KY; and Janice Fields of Knob Lick, KY

  • One sister: Bernice (Howard) Huff of Center, KY

  • Eleven grandchildren: Chris Burton, Tiffany Burton, Brittany England, Roy Johnson, Tyler Fields, Shaina Coffey, Sonya Mathews, Whitney Compton, Kenny Tomblin, Roy Tomblin and Chase Tomblin

  • Ten great grandchildren; Zackary Burton, Brianna McClellan, Elizabeth Compton, Natlie Branham, Annebell Branham, Nathan Branham, Dawson Compton, Autumn Coffey, Makayle Coffey and Felicity Jones

  • Several nieces and nephews
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. Joyce Dillingham, Besty Boston, Lardine Owens, Finis Burton and James "Peanut" Burton.
