Eva Close Sallee Bowman, Taylor Co./Green Co., KY native (1920-2018)

She worked for 30 plus years at Fruit of the Loom. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and had been a member of First United Methodist Church in Campbellsville, KY, over 77 years as well as having attended Drakesboro Methodist Church with her daughter when she was able. She was the matriarch of a large, respected South Central Kentucky family, the daughter of the late Emmett & Fannie Sallee, and the widow of Fred Bowman. She leaves 26 direct living descendants.

Eva Sallee Close Bowman, 97, died on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Concordia Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Greenville, KY.

The funeral service for Eva Sallee Close Bowman will be held at 12pmCT/1pmET, on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home, 503 E Main Street, Campbellsville, KY, with Bro. Neil Salvaterra officiating. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery, 200 Block of W Main Street, Campbellsville, KY. The family request visitation between the hours of 10amCT/11amET and 12pmCT/1pmET, March 14, 2018, prior to the service at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

Eva was born on Wednesday, October 13, 1920 in Green County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Emmett & Fannie Sallee. She died Sunday, March 11, 2018, in Greenville, Muhlenberg County, KY, at the age of97 years, 4 month and 26 days.

Also preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, was her husband, Fred Bowman, as well as a daughter, Louise Close; a son, William James Close; and a great grandson, Jeremy Wilkerson, and four brothers and one sister.

She worked for 30 plus years at Fruit of the Loom. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and had been a member of First United Methodist Church in Campbellsville over 77 years as well as having attended Drakesboro Methodist Church with her daughter when she was able.

Eva is survived by:
  • One daughter: Della Close Goff & husband DuWayne of Drakesboro, KY

  • One sister: Ada Margaret Daily of Greenville, IN

  • Nine grandchildren

  • Eight great grandchildren

  • And eight great great grandchildren
