Columbia, KY (Thu 08 Mar 2018) - On Thursday, Lindsey Wilson College celebrated International Women's Day by inviting area children to campus for activities and programming to recognize the annual worldwide holiday. Hosted by the LWC women's studies program, the event aimed to give children and their parents the chance to explore gender stereotypes and recognize the social, cultural, economic and political achievements of women.

The children were treated to games and snacks from around the world. They also listened to LWC students read from the award-winning children's book Malala Yousafzai: Warrior with Words written by Karen Leggett Abouraya.

International Women's Day dates back to 1911, when many women were fighting for the right to vote. - Venus Popplewell is Director of Public Relations at Lindsey Wilson College
