Adair and Marion lose to make CHS the district tourney champs With the championship win, the CHS girls' basketball team advances to the 5th region tournament, the team's first region appearance since 2002. Click on headline for complete story By Calen McKinney Campbellsville High School girls' basketball team is this year's 20th District tournament champions. To advance to the championship game, CHS defeated Adair County on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018. CHS took on Marion County in the championship game on Friday, Feb. 23, and won by a score of 51-41. Campbellsville Middle School eighth-grader Bri Gowdy led her team with 18 points. CHS senor Nena Barnett had 12 points. In a ceremony after the game, CHS freshman Abi Wiedewitsch received an all-district academic award. Receiving all-season team awards were seniors Nena Barnett and Kiyah Barnett and CMS eighth-grader Bri Gowdy. CHS senior Kiyah Barnett, freshman Abi Wiedewitsch and CMS eighth-grader Bri Gowdy were named to the all-tournament team. CHS senior Nena Barnett received the Bobby Brockman Most Valuable Player award. In addition to the championship win, the CHS team also advances to the 5th region tournament. This will be the CHS team's first region appearance since 2002. CHS defeated also defeated Marion County in 2002 to win the 20th District tournament. CHS will take on Nelson County in the first round of the 5th region tournament. Game time is at 6pmET at Central Hardin High School. Anthony Epps is the CHS girls' basketball head coach.
