LWC basketball travels to Pikeville for MSC doubleheader By Anthony Latessa The Lindsey Wilson men's and women's basketball teams travel to Pikeville (Ky.) Thursday for a Mid-South Conference doubleheader at the East K Expo Center, 126 Main St, Pikeville, KY. The action begins at 5pmCT when the No. 9-ranked women's team takes on the Bears. Action continues at 8pmCT when the No. 5-ranked men's team battles No. 6-ranked Pikeville. The Blue Raiders (19-4, 6-2 MSC) defeated Life (Ga.) 79-68 on Monday. Lindsey Wilson set the program record for blocks in a game with 11. Kayla Styles led the way with her 13th double-double of the season scoring a game-high 33 points and 15 rebounds. She also had five assists, three blocks and three steals. Styles is now tied atop the program's career blocks list with 102. Reagan Turner added 15 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals. Devin Cheatum also finished in double figures with 11. Gerda Paulauskaite matched her single game program record for blocks in a game with seven. She also set a single season program record for blocks as she now has 67 on the year. Lindsey Wilson ranks first in the NAIA in blocks (129), blocks per game (5.6) and three point field goal percentage defense. The Blue Raiders rank second in field goal percentage defense (.326), fourth in rebounds per game (45.1), fifth in rebound margin (9.5) and 10th in scoring defense per game (55.9). Paulauskaite ranks first in blocks per game (2.9) and total blocks with 67 while Styles ranks third in points per game (21.5). Pikeville (12-12, 3-5 MSC) defeated Kentucky Christian 66-48 on Tuesday. The Bears had three players in double figures led by Aundrea Matchen who scored a team-high 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Adison Corder added 13 points and seven rebounds while Jamie Castle chipped in with 12. The Bears outshot the Knights 48.2 percent to 38.5 percent and forced 15 turnovers with eight steals. Pikeville had a 30-20 edge in points in the paint and a 29-10 advantage in bench points. The Bears have three players averaging double digit points this season led by Castle's 14.3 points per game. Tonight's matchup is the 66th meeting between the two schools. Lindsey Wilson leads the series 48-17 and have won the last four matchups. The two teams met back on Jan. 13 with the Blue Raiders picking up a 73-65 victory. Styles recorded a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds. The No. 5-ranked men's team (20-3, 5-3 MSC) were defeated by Cumberland (Tenn.) on Feb. 1. Lindsey Wilson had four players in double figures led by Bryan Wallace who scored a game-high 19 points and had a team-high eight rebounds. Charles Sutton added 15 points while Kel Stotts and Jordan Hamlette added 10 apiece. Lindsey Wilson ranks fifth in the NAIA in steals per game (10.1) and total steals (235), sixth in field goal percentage defense (.392) and blocks per game (4.6). The Blue Raiders also rank seventh in scoring defense per game (66.5), scoring margin (19.6) and eighth in blocks (106). No. 6-ranked Pikeville (22-2, 6-2 MSC) defeated Simmons (Ky.) 84-50 on Saturday. Jordan Perry scored a game-high 21 points while going 11-of-12 from the charity stripe. Chase Parsley added 13 points with six assists while Jayvian Delacruz chipped in with 10 and nine rebounds. Perry leads the team in scoring with 14.3 points per game. The Bears rank first in scoring margin (27.5), rebound margin (12.6) and field goal percentage defense (.376). Pikeville ranks second in field goal percentage (.530), third in three point field goal percentage defense (.282) and scoring defense per game (65.1). Darrion Leslie ranks third in field goal percentage (.638) and George Johnson is fourth in assist/turnover ration (3.6) Tonight's matchup is the 70th meeting between the two schools. The Blue Raiders lead the series 37-32. The two programs last met on Jan. 13 where the Blue Raiders won 68-65 at Biggers Sports Center. Wallace scored a game-high 30 points and added four steals.
