LWC Wrestling at Cumberland University, 29 Jan 2018

COLUMBIA, KY - (Mon 29 Jan 2018) - The No.9-ranked Lindsey Wilson wrestling team travels to Cumberland (TN) for a Mid-South Conference matchup. The dual is set to begin at 7pmCT, Monday January 29, 2018, at the Dallas Floyd Recreation Center 1 Cumberland Drive (Campus, not venue), Lebanon, TN.



Lindsey Wilson has a dual record of 5-2 and is a perfect 3-0 this season in the MSC. The Blue Raiders last competed on Friday night, January 2 against No. 8 Southeastern (FL) where they picked up a convincing 31-8 victory. Lindsey Wilson won eight of the 10 matches on the night. Corey Hinkle recorded the Blue Raiders only pin of the match as he stuck his opponent to the mat in the waning seconds of the opening period. Cam Tessari added a 10-0 major decision shutout as five other LWC wrestlers produced decisions.

Lindsey Wilson has a host of wrestlers ranked individually in the NAIA. Tessari is ranked first in the 157-pound weight class. Dorian Coleman is fifth in the 165 class as Colton Gonzalez is fifth in the 174 class. Moser is 12th in the 133 class and in the heavyweight class Brandon Reed is 11th and Raynel Brown is 17th.

The Phoenix bring a 2-6 dual record and an 0-2 MSC record into the match. Cumberland last competed against No. 4 Cumberlands (Ky.) where they lost 35-9. Brandon Weber, DeAndre Jones and Jon Floyd each posted decision victories in the loss.

Cumberland has four individuals ranked in the top-15 of their weight classes. Austin Meyn is the No. 6-ranked wrestler at the 141-pound class, Shota Sisco is No. 14 at the 157-pound class, Jones is No. 8 at the 197-pound class and Floyd is No. 15 at heavyweight.

This is the 12th meeting between the two schools. The Blue Raiders hold a 7-4 edge in the series including a 3-1 record when traveling to Cumberland. This article by Christopher Coombs, a writer for Lindsey Athletics.
