Peggy Fudge celebrates her first retirement, looks to the future By Linda Waggener Columbia's Peggy Fudge has just retired from a career in Medical Technology where she has worked in a clinical lab, doing all manner of testing, for over 40 years. More recently her job has primarily been in Immunohematology/blood bank. When someone needed a blood product (generally red blood cells, plasma, or platelets), Peggy was responsible for determining if the selected product was compatible, making sure it wouldn't cause a bad reaction. She said that was her favorite area. Peggy began her work as a lab assistant at Adair Memorial Hospital, then went to work at the new Westlake Cumberland Hospital as a Medical Technologist. Fifteen years ago she went to work at TJ Samson in Glasgow. She says, "As for the future, I only have short-term plans; sleep, clean and declutter the house, and (hopefully) train my pups. I want to read, write, paint, quilt, learn another language and study whatever strikes my fancy. Long term plans I am trusting to God." Peggy hopes God has a job lined up for her that will provide joy and a sense of real purpose. Meanwhile, she expects to 'do lunch' with her friends -- here in Columbia, and in Glasgow.
