Virginia O. Grant, 85, Neatsville, Adair Co., KY (1932-2018)

Mrs. Grant was a member of the Tabernacle Christian Church. She the matriarch of a large, respected Northeast Adair County, KY, family. She had retired from Fruit of the Loom with 35 years of service as a machine operator. She was the daughter of the late Grover & Laura Workman Corneal, and the widow of C.W. Grant. She leaves 16 direct living descendants.

Virginia O. Grant 85, formerly of the Neatsville Community of Adair County, KY passed away Friday, January 12, 2018 at 10pmET, at the Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville, KY after several months illness.

Funeral service will Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 2pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Eldon Rucker the officiating clergy. Interment in the Tabernacle Cemetery, 91 Tabernacle Cemetery Road, in the Neatsville Community of Columbia, Adair County, KY. The family requests visiting after 8:30amCT, on Tuesday at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.

She was born February 3, 1932 the daughter of the late Grover & Laura Workman Corneal of Adair Co. KY. She died Friday, January 12, 2018, at the age of 85 years, 11 months, and nine days.

She was preceded in death by her husband C.W. Grant on July 29, 2001; and by a grandson, Michael Giles; and by one brother, Clyde Corneal

Mrs. Grant is survived by:
  • Two daughters: Ann (Bobby) Skaggs of Bardstown, KY; and Judy (Travis) Giles of Columbia, KY

  • Four grandchildren: Mark (Michelle) Grant, Todd Burton, Timmy Burton, and Sherri Giles

  • Seven great grandchildren

  • Three great great grandchildren

  • One sister-in-law: Mary Ellen Grant of Columbia, KY

  • and a host of other relative and friends
Mrs. Grant was a member of the Tabernacle Christian Church. She retired from Fruit of the Loom with 35 years of service as a machine operator.
