Visitation will be on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at 4pmCT, with Celebration of his life gathering on Monday, January 15, 2018 at 1pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Pastor Eric Gilbert officiating. Interment will be at the Bearwallow Cemetery, 6030 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. He was born September 21, 1938 to the union of James William ("Willie J") & Nancy Jane McQueary Burton in the Christine Community of Adair County. Sherman was a respected, local businessman, working with his son for more than thirty years. He was well known for his friendliness, fairness, wonderful sense of humor and readiness to be helpful to everyone. He enjoyed cooking, canning, fishing and spending time with family & friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers: Woodruff, Vertis, Marvin, Carl and Wallace Burton; and four sisters: Hattie Hollins, Arleter Burton, Veneitta Burton, and Gladys Powers; and one great granddaughter: Haili Wall; and one grand daughter-in-law: Wendy Neat.
