James -Jimmy- Coffey, 75, Green County, KY (1942-2017)

He had made a profession of faith in Christ, and was retired from Western Kentucky Gas Company. He was also an avid University of Kentucky Wildcat Fan and Assistant Scout Master for the Boys Scouts of the Bluegrass. He was a native of Green County, KY, and a resident of Anderson County, KY, at the time of his death. He was a member of an highly regarded Green County, KY family, the son of the late Omer Shively Coffey & Margaret Beulah Givens Coffey, and the widower of Deena Paige Eversole Coffey, his wife of 48 years, whose death occurred less than six months prior to his own. He leaves seven direct living descendants. His final resting place will be in Green County, KY.

Mr. James "Jimmy" Stewart Coffey of Lawrenceburg, KY, departed this life on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at the Hospice Care Center in Lexington, KY. .

The funeral services for Mr. James "Jimmy" Coffey will be conducted at 1pmCT, Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery, 525 Temperance Road, Greensburg, KY. Bro. Jeff Eaton will officiate. Visitation is requested after 11amCT, Saturday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home until time of the funeral service.


Pallbearers: Robert Coffey, Mark Coffey, Bill Coffey, Charlie Blacketer, Willie Goodlett, Steve Woody, Philip Judd, and Clayton Beard

Mr. James "Jimmy" Stewart Coffey of Lawrenceburg, Anderson County, KY, son of the late Omer Shively Coffey & Margaret Beulah Givens Coffey, was born on Friday, February 13, 1942 in Green County, KY, and departed this life on Sunday, December 31, 2017 in Lexington, Fayette County, KY. He was 75 years, 10 months, and 18 days of age.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ, and was retired from Western Kentucky Gas Company. He was also an avid University of Kentucky Wildcat Fan and Assistant Scout Master for the Boys Scouts of the Bluegrass.

Mr. Coffey was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Deena Paige Eversole Coffey on July 25, 2017 having united in marriage on August 2, 1969.

Survivors include:
  • Three sons and two daughters-in-law: Robert and Kim Coffey of Lexington, KY; John and Kim Coffey of Tennessee, and Mark Coffey of Lawrenceburg, KY

  • Four grandchildren: Jacob Coffey, Taylor Coffey both of Lexington, KY; Tayte Coffey, and Madilyn Coffey both of Tennessee

  • A sister and brother-in-law: Nancy & Larry Mills of Greensburg, KY

  • And a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
Mr. Coffey was also preceded in death by a brother and sister: Robert Allen Coffey and Betty Jo Coffey Russell.

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Bethlehem Cemetery, which can be made at the funeral home.
