January term classes to begin at CU 2 Jan. 2017

By Josh Christian, student news writer, office of university communications

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – In an effort for students to get ahead with their classes, Campbellsville University offers a January term that begins Jan. 2, 2018 and ends Jan. 13, 2018.

Campbellsville University offers the January term with online or on-campus courses with some at the regional centers in Somerset and Harrodsburg. The courses are offered at the reduced rate of $399 per credit hour. Students taking January term courses also have the option of studying from home or staying in the residence halls at a reduced rate.

“Jan Term is another great opportunity offered by Campbellsville University,” Paula Caldwell, director of admissions, said.

“More and more students are taking advantage of this due to the convenience of mostly online options, condensed format and discount rate.

“Most students who enroll in a Jan Term course are CU students, but they don’t have to be. Several visiting students from other colleges and universities are welcome to enroll in these courses as well.” Dr. Shane Garrison, vice president for enrollment, teaches a January term course online every year.

Garrison said his students work from home, while visiting family and friends for the holidays, and they return to campus with three hours toward their degree. “The work is straight-forward and manageable,” he said. Garrison said students can enroll online, on the main campus or at one of the regional centers.

“January term is a perfect opportunity to get ahead or catch up,” he said. “Over 30 courses are available this January with over 20 of them being fully-online.”

He said high school juniors and senior can take January term courses if they have a 3.0 GPA.

Classes being offered for January term include: Marketing I, Principles of Management, Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management, Business Ethics, International Business, Environment and Man, Introduction to Old Testament Study, Introduction to New Testament Study, Christ and Culture, Introduction to Christian Evangelism, Church History, Computer Concepts and Applications, Social Statistics, Literary Studies, Principles for Wellness, United States Since 1877, Fundamentals of Speech, Introduction to Philosophy, Selected Topics: The Borderlands, General Psychology, Introduction to Sociology, Marriage and Family and Special Topics: Culture of Poverty.
