Helen Colvin Canada, Taylor Co., KY (1946-2017)

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Campbellsville Baptist Church, where she served as greeter and kept the Sunday School records. She loved children and was fondly known as everyone's Granny. Helen and her husband of 53 years, Utah, have been members of the Taylor County Fair Board since 1997. They were named Kentucky Fair Person of the Year in 2000. She was the daughter of the late Dennis Marvin Colvin & Mildred Arnous Bright Colvin and was the matriarch of a prominent South Central Kentucky family. She leaves 16 direct living descendants.

Helen Canada, 71, of Campbellsville, KY, died at 4:35pmET, Friday, November 24, 2017 in Louisville, KY.

The funeral service for Helen Colvin Canada will be at 10amCT/11amET, FUNERAL Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon Avenue, Campbellsville, KY, by Rev. David Johnson. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, 200 Block of West Main Street, Campbellsville, KY. Visitation will be 4pm-7pmCT/5pm-8pmET, Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home.



Helen Colvin Canada, 71, Taylor Co., KY (1946-2017)


Helen Canada, 71, was the daughter of the late Dennis Marvin Colvin & Mildred Arnous Bright Colvin was born January 24, 1946 in Taylor County, KY. She died Friday, November 24, 2017 in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, at the age of 71 years, 10 months.

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Campbellsville Baptist Church where she served as a greeter and kept the Sunday School records.

Helen loved children and was fondly known as everyone's Granny. Helen and her husband, Utah, have been members of the Taylor County Fair Board since 1997 and they were named Kentucky Fair Person of the Year in 2000.

She united in marriage to Utah Canada August 14, 1964.

Besides her husband, Utah Canada of Campbellsville, KY, she is survived by:
  • Two sons and two daughters: DeWayne Utah "Taw" Canada and wife, Patricia, Roy "Bill" Canada and wife, Debra, Lorie Richerson and husband, Michael and Lynn Marcum and husband, Josh

  • Ten grandchildren: Kacie Colvin and husband, Wes, Kelsi Wilson and husband, Alex; Kasandra Pike and husband, John; Korie Richerson, Megan Canada, Lindsey Canada, Lauren Canada, Dylan Canada, Hana Marcum and Jacob Marcum

  • Two great-grandchildren: Sadler Thomas Colvin and Paislee Rae Wilson

  • A sister-in-law: Ruby Colvin all of Campbellsville, KY

  • And many other relatives and friends
She was preceded in death by one son in infancy, Joey Marvin Canada and one brother, Earl Thomas "Tommy" Colvin.
