Carolyn Sue Buis McDonald, 69, Casey Co., KY (1948-2017)

She was a native of Liberty, KY and a resident of Woodbury, TN, at the time of her death. She was a member of a highly regarded Casey County, KY, family, the daughter of the late Berlin & Ella Mae Thompson Buis. Her husband, James D. McConald, survives. She leaves 22 direct living descendants. A member of the Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ, Carolyn was known for her love of children, including her own and many others she helped raise over 30 years of being the owner-operator of Tammy's Tots to Teen.

Carolyn Sue McDonald, 69, of Woodbury, TN passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at St. Thomas Rutherford.

Funeral Services will be 10amCT/11amCT, Saturday, November 25, 2017 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY with Bro. Thaddeus Eubanks officiating. Interment will follow in the Rich Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 3:30pm-8pmCT/4:30pm-9pmET, Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Woodbury Funeral Home, Woodbury, TN; and 4pm-8pmCT/5pm-9pmET, Friday, November 24, 2017 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, Liberty, KY.



Carolyn McDonald, 69, Woodbury, TN/Casey Co., KY native (1948-2017)


Carolyn was born on March 2, 1948 in Liberty, Casey County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Berlin & Ella Mae Thompson Buis. She died Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at the age of 69 years, eight months, and 18 days.

She is survived by:
  • Her husband of 55 years, James D. McDonald of Woodbury, TN

  • Her children, Tammy (Tim) Young of McMinnville, TN; Tim (Karonica) McDonald of Murfreesboro, TN; Steve (LeeAnn) McDonald and Coby (Susan) McDonald both of Liberty, KY

  • Grandchildren: Tiffany Smith, Travis Young, Tyler McDonald, Tristan Adcock, Hannah McDonald, Baylen Hill, Caroline McDonald, Tatum Young, Caleb McDonald & Benjamin McDonald

  • Great grandchildren: Halle Drue Smith, Maverick Smith, Lennox Smith, Demi Adcock, Camille Young, Haddie Adcock, Titus McDonald & Levi Young

  • Family friend: Gary Whitworth of Woodbury, TN

  • Siblings: Danny Buis and Judy Smith of Liberty, KY, Rita Johnson of Science Hill, KY; and Nancy Thomas of Somerset, KY.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Berlin & Ella Mae Thompson Buis; Brother, Eugene Buis and Granddaughter, Ella Grayson McDonald.

A member of the Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ, Carolyn was known for her love of children, including her own and many others she helped raise over 30 years of being the owner-operator of Tammy's Tots to Teen.
