LWC Women's Swimming moves up to No. 7 in latest NAIA Pol

COLUMBIA, KY (Thu 16 Nov 2017) - The Lindsey Wilson women's swim team moved up one spot to No. 7 in the latest NAIA Women's Swim and Dive Coaches' Top 10 Poll, officials from the national office announced on Thursday.



The Blue Raiders collected 20 total voting points in the poll from the rankings committee.

SCAD Savannah (GA) earned the top spot in the poll with 49 voting points and four first-place votes. Oliver Nazarene (IL) is second with 46 points and the final first-place vote. Cumberlands (KY) moved up to No. 3 with 38 points.

The NAIA also released the second Top Times Report of the 2017-18 season on Tuesday. Lindsey Wilson swimmers garnered 19 individual mentions and were mentioned in all five relay events.

Jessica Macdonald is mentioned seven times on the report. In four of the events she holds a top-10 time, highlighted by her fifth-fastest time in the 200-yard freestyle. Alexis Kessler appears five times on the report as she has recorded the third-fastest time in the NAIA this year in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle events, while boasting the second-fastest time in the 200-yard freestyle. Laura Stephenson has recorded the fastest time in the NAIA in the 100-yard butterfly event, while holding the second-fastest time in the 200-yard butterfly. Bailey Seitz and Caitlin Freeny also both appear on the report for their times in the 50 free.

In the relay events, Lindsey Wilson holds top-10 times in four of the five events, highlighted by the third-fastest time in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

The Blue Raiders are currently in competition at the University of Cincinnati Bearcat Midseason Invitational.
