Lyda Anne Blakeman Gaunce, Green Co. KY, (1927-2017)

She was a native of Green County, KY. She had made a profession of faith in Christ, was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church, and was a homemaker. She leaves 17 living descendents.

Mrs. Lyda Anne Blakeman Glasscoe Gaunce of Greensburg, Kentucky, daughter of the late Robert E. Blakeman and Elizabeth Sally Durham Blakeman, was born on Monday, February 14, 1927 in Green County, Kentucky and departed this life on Monday, November 6, 2017 at the Taylor Regional Hospital. She was 90 years, 8 months, and 23 days of age.

The funeral service for Mrs. Lyda Anne Blakeman Gaunce will be conducted at 11amCT, Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial in the Bethlehem Cemetery, 525 Temperance Road, Greensburg, KY., Dr. Gary Ervin officiating. Visitation was from 3pmCT until 8pmCT, Friday, November 10 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and will be after 7amCT Saturday until time of the funeral service.



Pallbearers: Guy Corbin, Alex Corbin, Derick Ritenour, James Ritenour, Quinn Lowe, Chris Lowe, Kyle Glasscoe, April Parris, JoAnne Beard, Taylor Anne Glasscoe and Levi Rattliff.

Honorary pallbearers: Great-Grandchildren: Robert Tyler Parris, Matti Lynn Parris, Kally and Braxton Corbin, Caleb and Lydia Corbin, Kynlee Beard, Wren Ritenour, and Rylan Jones, Bethlehem Baptist Church Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Lyda Anne Blakeman Glasscoe Gaunce of Greensburg, Kentucky, daughter of the late Robert E. Blakeman and Elizabeth Sally Durham Blakeman, was born on Monday, February 14, 1927 in Green County, Kentucky and departed this life on Monday, November 6, 2017 at the Taylor Regional Hospital. She was 90 years, 8 months, and 23 days of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ, was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church, and was a homemaker. She is survived by:
  • Her husband of 40 years, James Ronald Gaunce of Greensburg, having united in marriage on October 3, 1977.

  • Four daughters and three sons-in-law: Guyanne and Jerry Corbin, Becky and Billy Joe Lowe all of Greensburg, KY, Janie Ruth Ritenour, and Ronda and Steve Willis all of Texas;

  • Three sons and two daughters-in-law: Robert and Connie Glasscoe of Greensburg, KY; Doug and Lanay Gaunce, and David Gaunce all of Texas;

  • A brother and three sisters-in-law: Richard "Dickie" and Connie Blakeman, Judy Blakeman, and Patricia Blakeman all of Greensburg, KY;

  • Ten grandchildren & Spouses: April & Robert Parris, Guy & Holly Corbin, Kyle & Jasmine Glasscoe, Alex & Faith Corbin, JoAnne & Scott Beard, Derick & Amber Ritenour, Quinn & Haley Lowe, James Ritenour, Chris Lowe, and Taylor Anne Glasscoe;

  • Nine great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Gaunce was also preceded in death by a son, William Lester Glasscoe; five brothers and a sister, Robert "Bobby" Blakeman, Billy Blakeman, Charles Hughett Blakeman, Joe Durham Blakeman, Lynn Taylor Blakeman, and Katherine Shuffett.

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Alzheimer's Association or the Gideon Bible Fund, which can be made at the funeral home.

Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
