LWC Volleyball sweeps Pikeville in MSC Quarterfinals

BOWLING GREEN, KY - (Thu 09 Nov 2017) Top-seeded Lindsey Wilson volleyball opened up postseason play this morning with a three-game sweep of Pikeville (KY) in the Mid-South Conference Tournament played at South Warren High School, 8140 Nashville Road (Campus), Bowling Green, KY.

The Blue Raiders advance to the tournament semifinals to face the winner of fourth-seeded Cumberlands (KY) and fifth-seeded Life (GA) at 9:30amCT on Friday.



No. 1 Lindsey Wilson (26-0) hit .422 as a team in its quarterfinal win.

Paulina Sobolewska and Klara Mikelova each recorded a team-high nine kills in the match. Sobolewska - the MSC Freshman of the Year - posted a .471 attacking percentage while Mikelova hit .500 in the win.

Mid-South Conference Player of the Year Makenzie Montano provided another all-around game. She posted a match-high 37 assists while contributing four kills -- on five attempts -- two blocks and two digs.

Montano was one of four Blue Raiders with two blocks in the match. Mikelova led the team with three blocks -- two solo and one assisted block -- as the Blue Raiders ended the match with 12 blocks.

Caitlyn Tino - the MSC Libero of the Year - tallied a match-high 13 digs in the win.

The combination of the Blue Raider defense limited the Bears (10-21) to a .068 hitting percentage.

The win is the seventh straight for the Blue Raiders in the Mid-South Conference Tournament. Lindsey Wilson has won the last two conference tournament titles.r>
