ACHS Academic Team earns national championship honors! Adair County High School Academic Team one of only 96 high schools across the U.S. who have slots reserved as a National Championship. Six individual qualifiers, Benjamin Hancock, Trevor Smith, Ty Cheatham, Samuel Willis, Chris Stuchell, and Maddie Harmon in top 20 percent in PACE National Championship Qualifier, held in Lexington, KY October 21, 2017. Click on headline for complete story By Brett Reliford The Adair County High School Academic Team traveled to the University of Kentucky Saturday, October 21, 2017, for a PACE National Championship Qualifier against 32 of the best teams from across all corners of the state and teams from neighboring West Virginia. The team finished the Prelim rounds ranked in the Top 5, which bracketed them into the top 8 Finals where they won two of three matches, thus qualifying the team for the 2018 National Championship. Only a select few teams from Kentucky will qualify this year for the National Championships. With Adair County's slot secured, this places them among only 96 high schools across the U.S. who have slots reserved in the event. In addition to the team's finish in the tournament, ACHS had six individual scorers in the top 20 percent of all players participating in the tournament. Adair was the only team in the tournament to have that many players in the top 20 percent of all scorers. Individual members part of this honor were Benjamin Hancock, Trevor Smith, Ty Cheatham, Samuel Willis, Chris Stuchell, and Maddie Harmon. ACHS team members attending the tournament were Benjamin Hancock, Trevor Smith, Maddie Harmon, CJ Bonifer, Samuel Willis, Chris Stuchell, Ty Cheatham, Elizabeth Rexroat, Alex Godsey, Keaton Coomer, Jonathan Wood, Kiley Feese, and Hayden Hancock.
