Ruby Marie Furkin, 71, Adair Co., KY (1945-2017)

She worked at Union Underwear for a number of years and worked at Westlake Home Health and she attended the Sparksville Church of the Nazarene. She was a member of a respected South Adair County, KY family. She was the daughter of the late Ancel Thomas & Gladys Marie Franklin Janes. Her husband, Norman Furkin, survives. She leaves 12 direct living descendants.

Funeral service Monday, October 9, 2017 at 1pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home. 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Lonny Karnes the officiating clergy. Burial in the Furkin Cemetery, 1279 Sparksville Road, Columbia, KY.. Visitation Sunday, October 8, 2017 after 2pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.



Ruby Marie Furkin, 71, Adair Co., KY (1945-2017)


She was born October 18, 1945 in Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Ancel Thomas & Gladys Marie Franklin Janes. She died Saturday, October 7, 2017, in Glasgow, Barren County, KY, at the age of 71 years, 11 months, and 19 days.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Cody Janes and Dillard Janes; & one sister Margie Keith.

She is survived by her husband Norman Furkin of Columbia, KY, and the following:
  • Her daughter: Sheila (Ronnie) Bennett of Columbia, KY.

  • Her three sons: Tony (Debbie) Furkin and Barry (Andrea) Furkin of Columbia, KY, and Brian (David V. Salyers) Furkin of Bowling Green, KY

  • Five grandchildren: Savannah Bennett & fiance Terence Bell, Ricky Bennett, Christian Furkin, Lindsey Furkin & fiance Levi Hausdorfer, Josh Allen Furkin & wife Jenifer

  • Three great grandchildren

  • Two special friends Betty Grant & Valley Shearin

  • Several nieces, nephews

  • a host of other relatives and friends
