Mike Watson: Columbia Locker Market grand opening Click on headline for item with photo(s) Mike Watson The Columbia Locker opened its Market 56 years ago, the Adair County News reported in this front page news article: "Columbia Locker & Market—The Grand Opening for the new Food Market—The grand opening of Columbia Locker's new food market will be held tomorrow, Thursday, November 16, beginning at 7:30 a.m. The new market has been added on to the locker plant on Campbellsville Street. In celebration of their grand opening, the market will be giving away two bushels of groceries daily until November 23. The grand prize, a whole hog, will be given away December 23. No purchases are required to be eligible for the prizes.—Adair County News, 15 November 1961, page 1"Inside this edition there was a half-page ad, with prices somewhat different from today's.
