She was a member of prominent Green County, KY family, with strong family ties in Adair County, KY and elsewhere. She leaves 14 direct living descendants, including her daughter, Gayle Rogers, of Columbia and grandchildren in Glens Fork, KY.

Mrs. Elois Squires Gumm, age 82, of Greensburg, KY, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2017, at the Green Hill Rehabilitation & Care Center in Greensburg, KY.

The funeral services for Mrs. Elois Squires Gumm will be conducted at 11amCT, Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at the Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, with burial in the Fry Cemetery. Visitation will be 4pm-8pmCT, Monday, September 25, 2017, and after 7amCT Tuesday at Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home.



Mrs. Elois Squires Gumm, Green County, KY (1934-2017)


She was born September 13, 1934. She daughter of the late Jim Lewis Squires & Tamar Murrell Finn Squires She died September 23, 2017, in Greensburg, Green County, KY, at the age of 82 years, 10 days.

She united in marriage to Alva Royce Buchanan in January of 1950 who preceded her in death on February 5, 1972. She later united in marriage to Billy Wayne Gumm on March 28, 1975 who also preceded her in death on January 14, 2017.

She is survived by:
  • A daughter: Gayle Rogers of Columbia, KY

  • A sister: Lucille Bagby of Greensburg, KY

  • A brother & sister-in-law: Elwood & Jewell Squires of Campbellsville, KY

  • Three grandchildren: Brian & Elizabeth Downey of Georgia; Laura & Matthew Brummett of Glens Fork, KY; and Erin & Dave Eubank of Bowling Green, KY

  • Ten great-grandchildren: Allie Brummett, Maggie Brummett, Sam Brummett, Dawson Eubank, Dylan Eubank, Olivia Eubank, Ava Eubank, Carson Eubank, Bryce Downey, and Mary Carlin Downey
Mrs. Gumm was also preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers: Gladys Marie Squires, Grace Beatrice Squires, Lee Nelson Squires, James Floyd Squires, Lloyd Russell Squires, and Raymond Lewis Squires.
