Saturday's fall heritage festival at Homeplace on Green River drew a record crowd of more than 2,000 - some 600 more than in 2016.

The weather was perfect and the program was filled with interesting and fun activities.

None if it would have been possible without the volunteers from Adair FFA, Campbellsville's Healing Place and Lindsey Wilson College Bonner Students and the many artists, crafters, exhibitors, food vendors and other attractions.

Homeplace Board President Billy Joe Fudge thanked all who were involved in the day's activities, including those who came to enjoy the day at Homeplace.

Homeplace has scheduled its annual plow day/spring festival for April 21, 2018 and many of the same events and activities will be returning for the spring festival.

Located at 5807 New Columbia Road (KY state highway 55) between Columbia and Campbellsville, Homeplace is a farm first settled in 1804 and is being restored by volunteers from Adair, Green and Taylor counties.

The property was acquired by the three counties in 2000 thanks to a major grant from the U. S. Department of Agriculture and several other entities. It has been designated Kentucky's Outdoor Classroom by the Kentucky Senate and has been used as such by both grade school and high school students as well as college students from all three counties.

HGR Fall Festival 2017: The Hay Maze

2017-09-07 - Homeplace on Green River, 1765 New Columbia Road, Campbellsville, KY - Photo by Billy Joe Fudge, HGR President.
The Homeplace on Green River Fall Festival Saturday, September 9, 2017, will feature an 800-foot well-monitored kiddies hay maze. It took about 800 bales--one per foot of maze--because of all the switch-backs. The maze is just one of the activities schedule at the festival. There will be eight food vendors, 20 artists and crafters selling Kentucky made items, 14 family activities and 4 live music groups performing in the newly restored 1860s bank barn. Homeplace is located on Kentucky highway 55 (New Columbia Road) between Columbia and Campbellsville. The physical address is 5807 New Columbia Road, Campbellsville, KY. - George Kolbenschlag

A partial view of "The Maze" from up amongst the tier poles. Children won't be the only ones to enjoy a trip through it. Thanks to one of the young man from the Healing Place who climbed up there to give us that view.
