Students part of history at new Campbellsville Sports Complex By Calen McKinney Campbellsville Independent Schools’ students were a part of history on Friday, Aug. 18, 2017 when thirty students were on hand to participate in the groundbreaking of the Campbellsville Sports Complex. The complex, located off KY 55, will include several baseball fields, playgrounds, concessions, walking tracks, batting cages and more. CIS students gathered with community leaders at a ceremony to officially break ground for the project. After the ceremony, students enjoyed a lunch and took photos together. Students who participated include: Campbellsville Elementary School Third-graders Emerson Gowin, Hayden Maupin, Reece Swafford, Cayton Lawhorn, Luke Adkins, Lanigan Price, Damien Clark and Jaron Johnson; fourth-graders Cameron Taylor, Brayden Paiz, Isaiah Jeffries, Ethan Garrison, Bradley Paris, Caysen Tungate, Cameron Estes, Keaton Hord and Carson Mills; and fifth-graders Rowan Petett and Skylar Wilhoite. Campbellsville Middle School Eighth-graders C.J. Adams, Karley Morris and Tuff Harper, seventh-graders Seth Hash, Leigh Hicks and Damon Johnson and sixth-grader Tashaun Hart.
