Story/photo shoot suggested & supervised by Ralph Roy Waggener

There was a special celebration this morning at McDonald's of Columbia, KY, Wednesday morning, August 16, 2017, when Bro. Lewis Haynes received special recognition with a visit by Ivan Greer, owner of a restored 1933 Chevrolet 4-door sedan.

Members of Haynes' McDonald's of Columbia coffee club were on hand to celebrate the occasion. The club includes, but is not limited to, Bro. Haynes, Ralph Roy Waggener, publisher of "It's Just for a Smile News," and peacemaker; Ralph Cooney Shearer, known Democrat, and occasional instigator and sometimes too ready to wager on elections; Greer, known Republican who has been known to accept a challenge from Shearer; Waggener's co-peacemaker, Buddy Green, and livener-upper Wayne Jessee, who brings excitement, and mirth, when things get dull.

Bro. Haynes may have as many friends as a teacher as anybody in Adair County, through his long career as a teacher in the Adair County School system, and as a longtime pastor at Plum Point Baptist Church, a position from which he retired recently, after a long pastorate.

He will be 85 on February 14, 2018.

Ivan Greer's car coming to a Re-Visit Knifley near you; can be bought

Greer obtained it about two years ago in Ohio.

It's a six cylinder model, with a three-speed-on-the-floor manual transmission, and with the six - it's remarkably quiet and peppy.

The car will make an appearance at the next Re-Visit Knifley, Greer said.

And, unlike many collectors who feign offense if someone asks to buy a car such as this, Greer says simply that $25,000 will buy it. And he has others, he'll sell, as well. - EW

Mirthmaker Wayne Jessee late on the scene

Livener-upper Wayne Jessee, left, who brings excitement, and mirth, when things get dull, arrived with a huge, devilish grin after the initial group assembled for the event had sashayed away. His mere arrival brought back another hearty laugh from Ivan Greer; and, though Ralph Roy Waggener had just moments before given a late night talk show host introduction for Jessee, he only manage a timid smile above, belying his admiration for Jessee. - Ew

Looking more like a teenage boy with the family car ready to go on a first date than a soon to be 85 year old (February 14, 2018) retired educator and pastor, Bro. Lewis Haynes posed at the wheel of Ivan Greer's 1933 Restored 1933 Chevrolet touring car in this photo staged by Ralph Roy Waggener, Wednesday morning, August 16, 2017. - EW
