Columbia Adair County P&R elects new officers

Board members and officers change but volunteers for this public park are always needed and welcome.

By Linda Waggener

After serving on the board of the Columbia Baptist Church Christian Life Center before and since its transition to public ownership, Debbie Yates is stepping down from the position of Board Chair of Columbia Adair County Parks and Recreation Department.

The City/County joint purchase and dual management of the Christian Life Center took place early in this decade and, in honor of a gift from the local philanthropist, renamed it The Jim Blair Community Recreation Center.

At its August meeting, the board elected new officers who are: Chair Cynthia Rowe, vice chair Jelaine Harlow, treasurer Barbara Shepherd and secretary Linda Waggener. Board members also include Mitzi Bault, Damon Hicks, Alicia Bosela and Greg Caldwell. Park Director is Lisa Handy.
