Dr. Mom delivers baby in trouble, then stops to have her own Women doctors who deliver babies are regularly moms themselves. Seldom, however, do they stop their own delivery progress to help another mother whose baby is in an emergency situation. This one did, and she is making news and collecting congratulations! -- LW Click on headline for full story Clarissa 'Moochie' Hart from Russell Springs, KY wrote, "How cool is this? Dr. Amanda Hess is one of our providers in Family Medical Centers' Frankfort practice. Women are tough and a real force to be reckoned with. Congrats to Dr. Hess!" From their Family Medical Centers' Frankfort, KY OB office: "Hats off to this Mom and member of Physician Moms Group Dr. Amanda Hess! This [was documented] minutes after she delivered her second child, Ellen Joyce! Not only does she look like a stunning model but while she was getting into her patient gown to prepare for her induction and delivery she overheard the nurses preparing for a woman in active labor who needed to deliver immediately because the baby was in distress - that baby was coming and needed help! The patient's OBGYN was on their way but Dr. Hess (an OBGYN herself) knew that the baby needed attention now! So, in her own words, she "put another gown on to cover my backside, put some splash boots on over my flip flops" and delivered that baby!" She literally worked until the last second!! Those mamas are bonded for life! And Baby Ellen (and her big sister Kate) will have fun hearing this story when they are older! Doctor moms consistently take care of their own families as well as their patients and their respective families all the time. Great job, Dr. Hess! Now enjoy your maternity leave! (This was shared and permission given by Dr. Hess and the neighboring delivered mother.) Dr. Amanda Hess' story is reprinted on columbiamagazine.com with permission of Family Medical Centers' Moochie Hart from the Russell Springs headquarters of Cumberland Family Medical with clinics in over 20 KY counties, including the one in Frankfort where this happy story took place.
