Frank L. Black, Russell County, KY (1929-2017)

Frank was a veteran of the Air Force and a retired mechanic with the Arco Oil Company. He was also a member of the Russell Springs Methodist Church. He was the son of the lateWalter G. & Vandie Frost Black and the widower of Virginia Blades Black. He leaves 29 direct living descendants.

Memorial service for Frank Black will be Saturday, August 5, 2017, 10amCT, at the Russell Springs City Cemetery, Lakeway Drive, Russell Springs, KY. Cremation was chosen by the family.

Frank L. Black, 88, of Russell Springs, KY, died Sunday, July 23, 2017, at the Russell County Hospital, Russell Springs.

He was born May 15, 1929 in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY. He was the son of the late Walter G. & Vandie Frost Black. He died Sunday, July 23, 2017, in Russell Springs, Russell County, KY, at the age of 88 years, two months, and eight days.

Frank was a veteran of the Air Force and a retired mechanic with the Arco Oil Company. He was also a member of the Russell Springs Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Blades Black, and a daughter, Bettie Black, a brother, Clesbie Black; and a sister, Neva Bernard.

Survivors are:
  • Two sons: Richard Black, Russell Springs, KY; and Ronald (Davida) Black, Cottontown, TN

  • One daughter: Sheila Coffey, Russell Springs, KY

  • Ten grandchildren: Wesley L. Coffey, Ashley D. Coffey, Kelly Weddle, Adam Black, Jackson Black, Urilla Whittley, Amanda Abernathy, Rachel Carlisle, Joseph Black, Amy (Dave) Thomas.

  • Fourteen great-grandchildren: Prestin Sneed, Tristin Coffey, Austin Coffey, Taylor Moore, Jayden Thomas, Audrey Weddle, Evelyn Weddle, Adriana Thomas, Carson Smith, McKinlee Black, Presley, Paisley, Carson Abernathy, and Tynleigh Murphy.

  • Two great-great-grandchildren: Emery Jo and Avah Sneed
