Maurice Walker Wethington, Adair Co., KY native (1920-2017)

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She lived a very fulfilled life and was loved and respected by all with whom she came in contact. She professed faith in Christ and was proud to say that she was a charter member of Woodlawn Christian Church. Maurice sang with the Sonshine Girls Quartet for many years and enjoyed going to local and state conventions. She was the widow of Roy Wethington. She and her husband Roy owned and operated the Lucky Vista Motel. She was an excellent business woman and enjoyed being with people. She leaves two direct living descendants.

Maurice Wethington, 96, of Campbellsville, KY passed away peacefully at 8:33pmET, Saturday, July 22, 2017 in Campbellsville.

Funeral services by by Minister Larry A. "Fella" Wilson and Dr. Ray Roberts at 12pmCT/1pmET, Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Woodlawn Christian Church, 831 W Main StreetY, Campbellsville, KY. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, 200 Block W Main Street, Campbellsville, KY. Visitation will be 10am-12pmNoonCT/11am-1pmET, Tuesday at Woodlawn Christian Church.



Maurice Wethington, Adair Co., KY native (1920-2017)


She was the daughter of the late Roy Walker & Nell Scott Walker. She was born November 28, 1920, in Adair County, KY. She died Saturday, July 22, 2017 in Campbellsville, KY, at the age of 96 years, seven months, and 24 days.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She lived a very fulfilled life and was loved and respected by all with whom she came in contact.

She professed faith in Christ and was proud to say that she was a charter member of Woodlawn Christian Church. Maurice sang with the Sonshine Girls Quartet for many years and enjoyed going to local and state conventions.

She united in marriage to Roy Wethington June 28, 1941. He preceded her in death May 27, 2006. She and her husband Roy owned and operated the Lucky Vista Motel. She was an excellent business woman and enjoyed being with people.

She was an avid bowler and loved to fish. There was always a contest between her and Roy to see who could catch the biggest fish.

She is survived by:
  • Her daughter and son-in-law, Ouida and Wendell Rivers

  • One grandson: Damon Rivers of Campbellsville, KY

  • Sister-in-law, Mildred Walker of West Virginia

  • Several nieces and nephews

  • And a host of friends
She was also preceded in death by one sister and one brother: Imogene Muncie and Glen "Brother" Walker.
