Danny Boyd Harrison, Sr., Taylor Co., KY (1949-2017)

He professed faith in Christ and was member of Shelbyville First Baptist Church, he was ordained as a deacon at Lowell Avenue Baptist Church. Danny was a twenty-five year Blue Lodge Freemason and a member of Elkhorn Lodge #568. Until retiring in January 2017 he was employed at JCIM in Louisville, KY and previously at ThyssenKrupp Budd in Shelbyville, Batesville Casket Company and Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville. His wife of 46 years, Joyce Elaine Riggs Harrison, survives. He leaves two direct living descendants.

Danny Boyd Harrison, Sr., 67, died peacefully in his home on July 19, 2017 in Shelbyville, KY, due to complications related to pancreatic cancer.

Funeral service will be at 1pmCT/2pmET, Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon Avenue, by Dr. R. Maurice Hollingsworth with Masonic Last Rites being conducted. Burial will be in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens, 700 Old U.S. 68, Campbellsville, KY. Visitation will be 11am-1pmCT/12pmNoon-2pmET, Saturday, July 22,, 2017 at the funeral home.

Mr. Harrison was born on November 12, 1949 in Campbellsville, Taylor County, KY. He was the son of the late Merlin and Lola Harrison. He died July 19, 2017, in in Shelbyville, Shelby County, KY at the age of 67 years, eight months, and seven days.

Danny was united in marriage on August 7, 1970 to Joyce Elaine Riggs.

He professed faith in Christ and was member of Shelbyville First Baptist Church, he was ordained as a deacon at Lowell Avenue Baptist Church. Danny was a twenty-five year Blue Lodge Freemason and a member of Elkhorn Lodge #568. Until retiring in January 2017 he was employed at JCIM in Louisville, KY and previously at ThyssenKrupp Budd in Shelbyville, Batesville Casket Company and Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville.

Mr. Harrison is survived by his wife, Joyce Elaine Harrison, and the following:
  • Son and daughter-in-law: Danny Harrison, Jr. and wife, Ammy of Simpsonville, KY

  • Granddaughter: Meredith Harrison

  • Two sisters: Carolyn Walters and Judy Harrison of Campbellsville, KY

  • One niece: Robin Simms and husband, David of Campbellsville, KY

  • Several cousins including a special cousin, Tammie Baumgardener of Campbellsville, KY

  • And many other friends and relatives
