Mr. Welby Lee Hicks, of Burkesville, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at his residence.

The funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at 2pmCT, in The Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home, 601 N Main Street, Burkesville, KY, with burial in the Parrish Chapel Cemetery in Cumberland County, KY. The family will receive friends after 10amCT, Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the funeral Home.

He was born in Burkesville, Cumberland County, KY, on Saturday, December 11, 1982, the son of Mark Hicks and Vanessa Collins Hicks. He died Wednesday, June 21, 2017, in Burkesville, Cumberland County, KY, at the age of 34 years, 6 months and 10 days.

He was of Methodist Faith and attended Parrish Chapel United Methodist Church and he was an equipment operator for Davidson's Dozer Service.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Welby and Mildred Lewis Hicks, his brother, Micheal "Munk" Taylor and his grandmother-in-law, Eva Hildebrandt.

He is survived by:
  • His father: Mark Hicks, and his mother, Vanessa Collins Hicks (and Terry Grider)

  • His fiancee': Kayla Ann Scott, his daughter, Emma LeeAnn Hicks

  • His maternal grandmother: Lyda Collins

  • His maternal grandfather: Edd Collins (and Nada Groce)

  • His father-in-law and his mother-in-law, Ricky Scott and Beth Moore, all of Burkesville, KY

  • His sister: Taylor Grider of Owensboro, KY
  • Aunts and uncles: Tim and Pam Hicks of Burkesville, KY; Demeteris and Larry Fields of Glasgow, KY;, Barry and Tina Collins, of Burkesville, KY

  • His nieces and nephews: T.J. and Katelyn Thompson, Elijah Bow, Isaac Bow, Trent Taylor, Landric Taylor and Madison Taylor.
Norris-New Funeral Home, Norris-New Funeral Home, 601 N Main Street, Burkesville, KY, is in charge of the arrangements.
