The Adair County Fiscal Court voted to pay Adair County ABC Deputy Commissioner and Investigator a salary of $300 a month at the courts regular June 13, 2017 meeting.

The vote came on a recommendation by CJE Michael Lee Stephens, and a letter from Chief Investigator Rick Eastham, Alcohol Beverage Control for the Western District, who covers the counties of the Kentucky State Police Post 15 area.

Chief Investigator Rick Eastham wrote in a letter dated May 8, 2017:
"I would like to take this opportunity to commend Investigator Sexton for her professional performance of duty in maintaining a safe and lawful county while Adair County has transitioned successfully into alcohol sales. Investigator Sexton is a duly sworn officer that shows great initiative and attention to detail while conducting enforcement and administrative duties regarding KRS 244.

"Investigator Sexton is eager to learn more about law enforcement responsibility as time passes.

"She is always traveling and assisting me while we are out checking the various premises around the county. She has been instrumental to me in that she has the local knowledge of many of the businesses and who runs them. Investigator sexton has assisted me in almost every business check made in Adair County. Being a law enforcement officer myself for over 30 years and a former police instructor, I rarely have seen anyone more eager to learn th job of 'Peace Officer' than she.

"I cover the KSP Post area for the state ABC. I must rely on qualified, knowledgeable County Enforcement Personnel for assistance. They often detect the first signs of developing problems in regards to alcohol sales. This allows us to intervene and prevent an issue from becoming a serious problem.

"In summary, I strongly endorse Investigator Sexton as Adair County ABC Enforcement and hope she will continue to be a part of our team."

In the discussion prior to the vote, Adair County Treasurer Malinda Quinn told the court that with project revenues in the coming year, the salary and the accompanying expenses, was within budget.

The voice vote to approve the salary was unanimous, following a motion by Magistrate Terry Hadley (7), with a second by Perry Reeder (4).
