Adair County Fair 2017 - Jaycees are keeping the tradition alive By Linda Waggener Cynthia Rowe, board member, shared at the recent Parks and Recreation meeting that the annual Adair County Fair will be different this year but it will be held. As a Jaycees leader she is part of the decision-making group in charge of the Fair's future. Parts of the Fair activities will be held at the City Park Pavilion inside the old Fairgrounds now owned by Lindsey Wilson College. Other activities will be held in different spots in Columbia. On Wednesday, July 5, 2017: Entries will be accepted at the Adair County Extension Office until noon, then Floral Hall Opens there at 4pmCT. Thursday, July 6, 2017: Floral Hall Beef Cattle Show will be held at Adair County High School FFA Barn. The Pet Show and Pageants will take place at the Pavilion. Friday, July 7, 2017: The Dairy Cattle Show will be held at the ACHS FFA Barn. Activities at the Pavilion will include Mr. and Miss Sunshine Pageant, Tiny Tot Pageant, 2-3 year olds, Tiny Tot 3-5 year olds, and the Talent Pageant. On Saturday, July 8, 2017: At the Pavilion, starting at 9amCT through 2pmCT, Little Mr and Miss Pageant, Pre-Teen Pageant, Miss Teen Pageant and Miss Adair County Fair Pageant. Kudos to the Adair County Jaycees for working through the transition from what could have been the end of the Fair in 2016 to strategic planning and hard work that will keep it going.
