Happy that needle exchange program is coming to Adair Co.

Personal commentary

I am very glad to hear the needle exchange program passed and will be implemented soon.

I know people say this is encouraging people to use illegal drugs, and they disagree with providing needles.

The proven fact is the IV users are going to inject regardless of what they have to do, including sharing needles.

HIV and Hepatitis C has become a rapidly growing concern in our neighborhoods.

If we can save one life by providing clean needles, we have a success story.

Heroin and other drug use/abuse crosses all financial and social barriers.

No one is immune from the possibility of having someone very dear sharing a needle with someone with HIV and Hepatitis.

The hope is for people to actually realize the need for assistance and seek a recovery program.

I think the major barrier will be getting people to exchange needles without fear of legal problems and being arrested.

I commend all the people that have spent many hours getting the needle exchange implemented.

Special thanks to LCADD and ASAP Thank you so much. - Mary Bardin
