LWC Men's Basketball signs Peyton Gover of Somerset, KY Gover was KY 12 Region Player of the Year Click on headline for complete story By Charles Balcom COLUMBIA, KY - (Fri 28 Apr 2017) - The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball program has signed Peyton Gover for the upcoming 2017-18 season, head coach Paul Peck announced on Friday. Gover joins the Blue Raiders from Southwestern High School in Somerset, KY. "We are so excited to have Peyton become a Blue Raider," Peck said. "Not only will he bring great scoring skills to our team, but he also brings a great family, one of which I've known my entire life." Gover averaged 30.1 points and 3.6 rebounds per game while helping the Warriors to a 24-6 record during his senior campaign. He shot 54.0 percent from the floor, 40.0 percent from beyond the arc, including 3.2 made three pointers per game, and 85.0 percent from the free throw line. The 5-foot-9 guard racked up the accolades during his high school career, earning All-District and All-Region honors, and was named the 12th Region Player of the Year by the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches. His senior season, Gover was named a Courier Journal First Team All-State selection, a Lexington Herald Second Team All-State honoree and a Kentucky Mr. Basketball Finalist. He comes from a strong basketball family that's familiar with the ever-competitive Mid-South Conference. His father, Al, played at Union (Ky.) College, while his cousin, Taylor, played at the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.). "Peyton adds to the recruiting class that's being called on to help the Blue Raider perimeter shooting and he's a great shooter that can hit from anywhere on the court," Peck said.
