LW baseball defeats Cumberlands, 6-1 Next: - LWC Baseball at Cumberlands, 12pmNoonCT/1pmET Sunday, April 9, 2017, at James Keelty Field at Doyle Buhl Stadium, 7526 College Station Drive, Williamsburg, KY, for Doubleheader/ Games 2 & 3 of a three game set. By Anthony Latessa WILLIAMSBURG, KY - (Sat 8 Apr 2017) - The Lindsey Wilson baseball team took game one of a three game Mid-South Conference series against No. 25-ranked Cumberlands (KY) 6-1 on Saturday at Doyle Buhl Stadium. Steven Paredes recorded three hits for the Blue Raiders (23-16, 8-2 MSC) and also hit a solo home run. Jan Carlos Ortiz drove in two runs on the day and Jayden Jackson also drove in a run. Jackson extended his reached base safely streak to 35 games. Roberto Prado got the Patriots (29-11, 7-3 MSC) on the board first in the third inning driving in a run on a double to deep right-center field giving Cumberlands a 1-0 lead. Paredes led off the fourth inning with a single down the left field line and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Paredes reached third on a Tanner Moore bunt then scored on a Jackson sacrifice fly to tie the game 1-1. Moore led off the sixth inning with a double to deep right field. After reaching third reaching third on a Jackson single, Moore scored on a Ben Giland hit to give Lindsey Wilson a 2-1. Ortiz increased the Blue Raider lead to 4-1 on a two-run double to deep right-center field. Ortiz scored on a wild throw giving Lindsey Wilson a 5-1 lead. Paredes hit a solo home run in the seventh inning to increase the lead to 6-1. James Doubet (6-1) retired nine of the game's last 12 batters.
