Columbia City Council discusses gas refunds 6 Apr 2017 No new action taken. Plans are to continue refunding program and turn over any unclaimed amount to the Kentucky State Treasure after one year. By Ed Waggener The Columbia City Council met in a very brief meeting last night to discuss the handling of refunds to City of Columbia Gas Department customers previously overcharged. Gas Department Office Manager Ann-Marie Austin gave a status report on the refunds to date. She and Mayor Curtis Hardwick reviewed the recommendation of the City Auditor, and a simpler, fairer solution was proposed. The City will disburse refunds to known and identified current customers, notify others who might have moved, accept requests from those who believe they have been overcharged and are due money, and then, after a period of one year, turn over any unclaimed funds to the Kentucky State Treasurer. The Council will revisit the situation at its Monday, May 1, 2017 regular session. Present at the meeting were Mayor Curtis Hardwick, presiding; City Attorney Marshal Loy, City Gas Department Office Manager Ann-Marie Austin, Council Members Ronald Rogers, Pam Hoots, Mark Harris and Craig Lasley; council member Craig Dean was absent; and Ronald Cook, Gas Superintendent.
