Ruth Ann Motley, Marion County, IN/Adair County KY native (1948-2017)

She was a member of a large, highly respected family with deep roots in Adair and Green Counties as well as in her long time Indiana home. She was the daughter of the late Thomas & Ruth Bridgewater Motley. Her mate of 48 years, William V. Key, survives. She leaves five direct living descendants.

Ruth Ann Motley, 68, of Indianapolis, Indiana, formerly of Adair County, KY, died Tuesday, March 28, 2107 at Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis.

Funeral service will be Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 11amCT at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Rev. Donnie Walkup delivering the eulogy. Burial will be in the Bridgewater-Groves-Caldwell Cemetery in Green County, KY. Visitation will be after 10amCT, Saturday, at the funeral home.



Ruth Ann Motley, 68, Marion Co., IN/Adair Co., KY native (1948-2017)


She was born August 19, 1948, in Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Thomas & Ruth Bridgewater Motley. She died Tuesday, March 28, 2017, in Indianapolis, Marion County, IN, at the age of 68 years, seven months, and nine days.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three siblings; Jo Hattie Smith, Nancy Motley and Thomas Motley, Jr.

Survivors include:

  • Her mate of 48 years: William V. Key of Indianapolis, IN

  • One daughter: Nancy Motley Jones of Indianapolis, IN

  • One son: Dontesz Motley of Indianapolis, IN

  • Two brothers: Robert and Mark Motley both of Indianapolis, IN

  • Five sisters: Wanda, Delores, Linda and Christine Motley, Donnetta Motley Dunston all of Indianapolis, IN

  • Two grandchildren: Shaniqua Williams and Damya Motley

  • One great-grandchild: Adrian Allen, Jr.

  • Several other relatives and friends
