Lucy Marie Akin Thompson, 88, Taylor Co./Green Co., KY native (1929-2017)

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and attended the South Summersville Baptist Church. She was a machine operator for the former Brown and Williams Tobacco Company in Louisville, KY. She was the daughter of the late Leonard Lonzo Akin and Minnie Blevins Akin and the widow of Raymond Henry Thompson, Jr. her husband of 39 years. She leaves eight direct living descendants.

Mrs. Lucy Marie Akin Thompson, 88, of Campbellsville, KY, formerly of Green County, KY, departed this life on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at the Bardstown Health and Rehabilitation Center.

The funeral services for Mrs. Lucy Marie Akin Thompson will be conducted at 11amCT, Thursday, April 6, 2017 at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Greensburg Cemetery. Bro. Jerry Noe and Bro. Larry Noe will be officiating. Visitation is requested from 5pm until 9pmCT, Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, and from 9am until 11amCT, Thursday at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.



Pallbearers: Bobby Cundiff, Gregg Cundiff, Ricky Cundiff, Douglas Taylor Akin, Ray Milbyand Billy Akin

Honorary pallbearers: Terry Lile, Barry Dobson, Carolyn Jane Despain, Dora Jean, Cundiff, Beth Akin, Claywood Pierce, Suzzie Pierce, and Paulette Stoyal.

Mrs. Lucy Marie Akin Thompson was the daughter of the late Leonard Lonzo Akin and Minnie Blevins Akin. She was born on January 4, 1929 in Green County, KY and departed this life on Sunday, April 2, 2017 in Bardstown, Nelson County, KY. She was 88 years, two months and 29 days of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and attended the South Summersville Baptist Church. She was a machine operator for the former Brown and Williams Tobacco Company in Louisville.

She united in marriage to Raymond Henry Thompson, Jr. on May 13, 1972, who preceded her in death on April 22, 2012.

Survivors include:
  • Two sons: George Thompson of Greensburg, KY; and Joshua Thompson of Campbellsville, KY

  • Six grandchildren: Samantha Lile, Jessica Cromwell, Melissa Bement, Colton Thompson, Houston Thompson, and Piper Holbrook

  • And a host of other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Thompson was also preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters: Omer Akin, Woodson Akin, Curtis Akin, James Akin, Jack Akin, Eva Gardner, Maudie Pierce and Louise Pickett.
