He was a native of Urbana, IL, and a resident of Liberty, KY, at the time of his death. He was the son of the late Lester L. & Alvin F. (Morgan) Smith. He leaves three direct living descendants. He was a truck driver.

Glenn Ernest Smith, of Liberty, KY, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Liberty Care Center. He was 85 years of age.

The family will receive friends from 9amCT10amET until time for services on Friday, April 7, 2017 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville St., Liberty, KY. The funeral service will be held at 1pmCT/2pmET, on Friday, April 7, 2017 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Caney Fork Cemetery.


Glenn Ernest Smith, 85, Liberty, KY (1931-2017)


Born on June 15, 1931 in Urbana, Illinois, he was the son of the late Lester L. and Alvin F. (Morgan) Smith. He died Tuesday, April 4, 2017, in Liberty, Casey County, KY, at the age of 85 years, nine months, and 20 days.

When he was a teenager, his family moved from Paxton, Illinois to south of Warsaw, Indiana. He married Sue Ann Helton on November 26, 1955. Glenn was a truck driver for many years.

He is survived by:
  • Three children: Glenda Leigh, William Gerald, and Carl Lee

  • An ex-wife: Sue Ann Helton Smith

  • One sister: Thelma (and Alden) Clark of Leesburg, Indiana

  • And one brother: Harold Smith of Warsaw, IN
In addition to his parents, Glenn is preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Bell.
