Alice Jean Bowen Stanfield, 86, Taylor Co., KY (1930-2017)

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of First United Methodist Church and when she was able she was an active member of the Upper Room Sunday School Class and Susan B. Loy Circle. She was an employee of Fruit of the Loom until she retired to take care of her granddaughter. They became best of friends and spent many fun hours together. She was an avid gardener, loved being outside and spending time with her family. She was the widow of Thomas O. Stanfield, her husband of 22 years. She leaves two direct living descendants.

Alice Jean Bowen Stanfield of Campbellsville, KY, died at 4:20amET, Saturday, March 18, 2017 in Lexington, KY.

The funeral service will be at 11amCT/12pmNoonCT, Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon Avenue, Campbellsville, KY, by Dr. Neil Salvaterra. Burial will be in Lebanon National Cemetery, 20 Highway 208, Lebanon, KY. Visitation will be 4pm-7pmCT/5pm-8pmET, Tuesday, March 21, 2017.

Alice Jean Bowen Stanfield of Campbellsville, KY, was the daughter of the late William Rease Bowen & Alice Campbell Bowen. She was born September 4, 1930 in Taylor County, KY. She died Saturday, March 18, 2017 in Lexington, Fayette County, KY, at the age of 86 years, six months, and 14 days.

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of First United Methodist Church and when she was able she was an active member of the Upper Room Sunday School Class and Susan B. Loy Circle.

She was an employee of Fruit of the Loom until she retired to take care of her granddaughter. They became best of friends and spent many fun hours together. She was an avid gardener, loved being outside and spending time with her family.

Her loving husband of twenty two years, Thomas O. Stanfield, preceded her in death on September 22, 1974.

She is survived by:
  • One daughter: Deborah Stanfield Straley and husband, Jeffrey

  • One granddaughter: LeAnn Stanfield Straley of Campbellsville, KY

  • One sister: Marjorie Hendrickson of Columbia, KY

  • Several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers: Helen Bowen, W.A. Bowen, W.R. Bowen and twin brothers in infancy, George Alfred and Richard Lee Bowen.
