LWC takes over top spot in Learfield Directors’ Cup standings

Lindsey Wilson won the the institution's first ever Learfield Cup. Six other institutions from the Mid-South Conference are featured in the 152-team rankings. Cumberlands (KY) is 28th, Life (GA) is 55th, Campbellsville (KY) is 58th, Shawnee State (Ohio) is 63rd, Cumberland (TN) is 71st and Georgetown (KY) is 121st.

COLUMBIA, KY – (Thu 09 Mar 2017) - Lindsey Wilson athletics has taken over the spot in the latest NAIA Learfield Directors’ Cup standings, the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) announced on Thursday.



The Blue Raiders tallied a national runner-up finish in wrestling (90 points), fifth place in women’s swimming and diving (75 points), eighth place in men’s swimming and diving (66) and 28th in men’s indoor track and field (45 points). The 276 points are the third most in the winter scoring thus far and helped LWC move up from 11th place following the fall standings in the national competition.

Lindsey Wilson boasts 462 total points, followed closely by Hastings (Neb.) with 457 and Wayland Baptist (Texas) with 422.5 points in third.

Six other institutions from the Mid-South Conference are featured in the 152-team rankings.

Cumberlands (KY) is 28th, Life (GA) is 55th, Campbellsville (KY) is 58th, Shawnee State (Ohio) is 63rd, Cumberland (TN) is 71st and Georgetown (KY) is 121st. Last season, Lindsey Wilson won the institution's first-ever Learfield Directors’ Cup. The final NAIA winter standings are scheduled to be released on March 23.
