Click on headline for complete article with photo(s) By Venus Popplewell, Public Relations Director Lindsey Wilson College Area residents will have the opportunity to view an early showing of the film Look & See: A Portrait of Wendell Berry at Lindsey Wilson College, at 3:30pmCT, Tuesday February 28, 2017, in the Hodge Auditorium, 402 Helen Flatt Drive, Columbia, KY. The event is free and open to the community. A second showing will be at 6:15pmCT, in the Rotary Club Boardroom, Cranmer Dining Center, 430 Helen Flatt Drive, Columbia, KY. Look & See is a cinematic portrait of the changing landscapes and shifting values of rural America in the era of industrial agriculture, as seen through the mind's eye of Kentucky farmer, essayist, poet, and short story writer, Wendell Berry. The film revolves around the divergent stories of several residents of Henry County, Kentucky who each face difficult choices that will dramatically reshape their relationship with the land and their community. Filmed across four seasons in the farming cycle, Look & See blends observational scenes of farming life, interviews with farmers and community members with evocative, carefully framed shots of the surrounding landscape. Thus, in the spirit of Berry's agrarian philosophy, Henry County itself will emerge as a character in the film - a place and a landscape that is deeply interdependent with the people that inhabit it. The film will run about 82 minutes. Wendell Berry is an American farmer, essayist, poet, short story writer, and perhaps one of the best known living Kentucky writers of today. He is an elected member of the Fellowship of Southern Writers, a recipient of The National Humanities Medal, and the Jefferson Lecturer for 2012. He is also a 2013 Fellow of The American Academy of Arts and Sciences and a recipient of the 2013 Richard C. Holbrooke Distinguished Achievement Award. On January 28, 2015, he became the first living writer to be inducted into the Kentucky Writers Hall of Fame. This is an early showing of Look & See. The producers are delaying the official opening until a later in spring. The executive producers are Robert Redford and Terrance Mallick, both well-known film directors. Laura Dunn is the director. Following the film, LWC alumni Ford Waterstrat and Amanda Baker will be in the Rotary Board Room in Cranmer Dining Center where they will talk more about their journey into organic farming.
