Dr. Pam Stephens, Interim Superintendent of the Adair County Public Schools while the search is on to fill the fulltime position, gave a brief update on school activities to members of the Chamber of Commerce in the Tuesday February 14, 2017 meeting. She began her career in education in Adair County, worked here for 16 years, then relocated for the rest of her career through retirement.

She said, "After being away from Adair County Public Schools for 25 years, it has been a pleasure to come back and see the progress made.

I've been extremely impressed with the opportunities our students have to move into leadership positions in their areas of interest. She offered a two-page handout to give an idea about the many career paths that are being addressed.

"The biggest plus for family members," she said, "is that of the College and Career Ready Paths where our young students graduate high school with many college hours already obtained at great savings. And our young people qualify as Work Ready for even more expanded job opportunities -- right now welding is a very big area for jobs."
