George Melvin Hixson, 82, of Middleburg, KY passed Monday, January 30, 2017 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Hospital, Danville, KY.

Funeral services are at 12pmNoonCT/1pmET, Thursday, February 2, 2017 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Ronnie Haste officiating. Burial will follow in Middleburg Cemetery, Middleburg, KY. Visitation is Thursday from 10amCT/11amET, until funeral service.


George Melvin Hixson, Casey Co., KY (1934-2014)


Born July 4, 1934 in Casey County, KY, he was the son of the late Harry and Pauline Raney Hixson. He died Monday, January 30, 2017, in Danville, Boyle County, KY, at the age of 82 years, six months, and 26 days.

He was a farmer and retired from Sellers Engineering. George was a member of Middleburg Baptist Church and a member and Past Master at Middleburg Masonic Lodge F. & A.M. # 594. He also held duel memberships at Rocky Ford Masonic Lodge #765 and McKinney Masonic Lodge #631. He loved telling stories, being out on the farm, talking of old times, and reading.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Laura Belle Luster Hixson, who died April 2, 1997; a brother and two sisters.

Survivors include:
  • Four daughters: Carolyn Hixson of Middleburg, KY; Marolyn (and Doyal) Hines of Middleburg, KY; Ann (and Gary) Wilder of Kansas City, MO; and Louise Hixson of Middleburg, KY

  • Several grandchildren

  • Several great-grandchildren

  • A host of nieces and nephews

  • And his beloved furry companion, Trinket
