LWC Women's Tennis No. 2 in national poll

Georgia Gwinnett is No. 1; Campbellsville University receives votes

COLUMBIA, KY - The Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team appears at No. 2 on the NAIA Coaches' Preseason Top 25 Poll, the national office announced January 24, 2017.

The Blue Raiders received 332 total voting points.



Reigning national champion Georgia Gwinnett received 343 total points and all 13 first-place votes. Last year, the Grizzlies bested Lindsey Wilson in the championship match, 5-4, for their second title in three years.

The national runner-up finish in 2016 was the best in Lindsey Wilson program history.

SCAD Savannah (GA), Brenau (GA) and Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) round out the top five.

Cumberland (Tenn.) and Cumberlands (KY) join the Blue Raiders in the top 25. The Phoenix received 165 total votes and rank No. 17 while the Patriots come in at No. 24.

Fellow Mid-South Conference members Georgetown (KY) and Campbellsville (KY) are featured in the receiving votes section of the poll.
