He was a member of White Oak Community Church and a farmer. He was a native of Metcalfe County, KY, and a resident of Adair County, KY, at the time of his death. He was the son of the late Herman & Mattie Frances Romines Jessie. His wife, Viola Franklin Jessie, survives.

Donald Wayne Jessie, 73, of Columbia, KY, died Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 5:40pmCT, at his home.

Funeral services will be Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 11amCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Gene Conover officiating. Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 5pmCT, Wednesday, January 25, 2017.



Casket bearers: Anthony Franklin, Josh Franklin, Justin Hancock, Ricky Franklin, Jeremy Franklin & Tony Franklin. Honorary casket bearers: Steve Bragg, Jonathan Jessie & Austin Bragg

He was born March 26, 1943, in Metcalfe County, KY. He was the son of the late Herman & Mattie Frances Romines JessieHe died Sunday, January 22, 2017, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 73 years, nine months, and 27 days.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Padgett; brothers-in-law, William Franklin, Jim Isaac Franklin & Carlos Bragg; and sister-in-law, Ima Jessie.

He was a member of White Oak Community Church and a farmer.

Survivors include:
  • His wife: Viola Franklin Jessie of Columbia, KY

  • One son: Tommy (Ramona) Franklin of Columbia, KY

  • One daughter: Shelia (Tony) Franklin of Columbia, KY

  • Two brothers: Edward (Martha) Jessie of Edmonton, KY; & James (Vicky) Jessie of Gradyville, KY

  • Two sisters: Linda (Austin) Bragg & Connie (Danny) Phelps both of Edmonton, KY

  • Eleven grandchildren

  • Several great-grandchildren

  • One aunt: Lucille Romines Fields

  • Two brothers-in-law: Rev. Davis (Doris) Franklin & Woodrow (Jeanette) Franklin

  • One sister-in-law: Dolly Bragg

  • Special friend: Jack Morgan

  • Special caregiver: Jane Potts

  • Several nieces and nephews
