Ernest E. Dunbar, Russell County, KY (1931-2017)

He worked as a parts delivery man and was in the U.S. Army and will be accorded military honors by the Russell County Honor Guard at committal rites. He was a native of Russell County, KY, a resident of the county at the time of his death, and his final resting place will be in the county of his birth. He was the son of the late Lola Fay Simpson & Oris E. Dunbar and the widower of Gladys Russell Dunbar. He leaves 15 direct living descendants.

Ernest E. Dunbar, 85, of Jamestown, KY passed away on Friday, January 6, 2017, at his home in Jamestown.

Funeral Services for Ernest E. Dunbar will be at 11amCT, Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel, 202 N Main Street, Jamestown, KY, with Bro. Kenny Spaw officiating. Friends may visit on Monday, January 9, 2017, after 5pmCT, at the funeral home. Burial in the Ridgecrest Cemetery in Jamestown, KY with Military Honors by the Russell County Honor Guard.

Ernest was born in Jamestown, Russell County, KY, on December 26, 1931. He was a son of the late Lola Fay (Simpson) and Oris E. Dunbar. He died Friday, January 6, 2017, in Jamestown, Russell County, KY, at the age of 85 years, 11 days.

He worked as a parts delivery man and was in the U.S. Army.

Ernest is survived by:
  • Three sons: Calvin (Debbie) Dunbar, of Elizabethtown, IN; Joe (Dawn) Dunbar, of Jamestown, KY; and Jerry (Jennifer) Dunbar, of Russell Springs, KY

  • One daughter: Betty Glover, of McQueeney, TX

  • Two brothers: Eris Dunbar, of Russell Springs, KY; and Gary Dunbar, of Taylorsville, IN

  • Three sisters: Lonis Richards, of Russell Springs, KY; JoAnn Baker, of Taylorsville, IN; and Lois Bennett, of Louisville, KY

  • Seven grandchildren

  • Four great grandchildren
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Gladys Russell Dunbar, sister Linda Gaskins, and two grandsons, Davie and Brian Parkerson.
