Russell Springs, KY, enters second day of serious water crisis Schools dismissed. Food service establishments forced to close. Water main break still not found, but team will arrive this morning with flowmeters to search for break. Mayor Eric Selby announced that free bottled water for the utiility's customers will be available starting at 8amCT, and asks citizens for patience Click on headline for complete story By Larry Smith & Tammy Sexton, FM 92.7 the WAVE & FM 99.9 the Big Dawg Russell County Schools are closed this morning, Russell Springs, KY food service establishments have been order shut today, bottled water is being made available free at the Russell Springs City Hall, and the main water break which created the emergency is yet to be found. The break occurred at approximately 6:30amCT, Tuesday morning, January 3, 2016. The Russell County Health Department has forced all food service establishments on the Russell Springs system to be closed. Once water is restored, the food service establishments will be under a Boil Water Advisory. According to Terry Russell of the Russell Springs water service, a Kentucky Association of Rural Water team will arrive in Russell Springs today with flowmeters to locate the leak. Russell Springs Mayor Eric Selby is asking patience in the community and has announced that customers of the city owned utility will be provided free bottled water starting at 8amCT at the Russell Springs City Hall, 487 Main Street, Russell Springs.
