He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member and deacon of the Brush Creek Baptist Church. He was a retired welder for KY Trailers, was a farmer, and worked for Lanham's Hardwood and Flooring. Mr. Estes was also a member of the William B. Allen Masonic Lodge #704 F&AM.

Mr. Alvin Ellis Estes, 92, of Green County, KY, departed this life on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at his home.

The funeral services for Mr. Alvin Ellis Estes were conducted at 12pmNoonCT, Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY. Burial is in the Bloyd-Perkins Cemetery. Bro. Jerry Noe Officiating. Visitation was 4pm-8pmCT Tuesday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT, Wednesday until time of the funeral service.



Pallbearers: Scott Estes, Steven Elmore, Mike Mitchell, Blake Mitchell, Luke Mitchell, and Gabriel Mitchell.

Mr. Alvin Ellis Estes of Green County, KY, son of the late Roscoe Estes and Mary Durrett Estes, was born on October 30, 1924 in Green County, KY and departed this life on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at his home. He was 92 years, one month and 18 days of age.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member and deacon of the Brush Creek Baptist Church. He was a retired welder for KY Trailers, was a farmer, and worked for Lanham's Hardwood and Flooring. Mr. Estes was also a member of the William B. Allen Masonic Lodge #704 F&AM.

He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Lentha Walker Estes of Green County having united in marriage on January 9, 1942.

Other survivors include -
  • A daughter and son-in-law: Willowdean and Charlie W. Elmore of Summersville, KY

  • A son and daughter-in-law: Alvin Vernus and Jonell Estes of Summersville, KY

  • Three grandchildren: Ree Shanna Mitchell and her husband, Mike, Scott Estes and his wife, Jackie all of Greensburg, KY; and Steven Elmore of Elizabethtown, KY

  • Eight great-grandchildren

  • Five step-grandchildren

  • Nineteen step-great-grandchildren

  • Eight step-great-great-grandchildren

  • And host of other relatives and friends.
Mr. Estes was also preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers: Mallie McCubbins, Carrie Ash, Hallie Beams, Sarah Estes, Arlin Estes Lee Wallace Estes, and Jake Estes.
