CPD arrests two following rollover collision, foot flight Alcohol believed to be contributing factor in one car collision at Jamestown & Hurt Streets, which resulted in one Adair County man being transported to UofL/ and another Adair man arrested Note: An individual charged by police or in a warrant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding Click on headline for complete story By Ofc. Josh Brockman, Public Information Officer Columbia Police Department, Jason Cross, Chief On 12-19-16 at approximately 10:30pmCT, Columbia Police Department received a dispatch from Adair 911 to respond to the intersection of Jamestown Street and Hurt Street to a reported one vehicle rollover collision. Witnesses stated operator lost control, struck a utility pole and overturned. Upon arrival of CPD Officers Josh Brockman and John Dial, it was found the vehicle was on its side and empty. Witnesses stated the occupants climbed out the back window of the 2004 Chevrolet Captiva and fled on foot. Witnesses were able to give officers a detailed description of occupants including that one of them was bleeding heavily. Officer Dial began to investigate the collision while Officer Brockman and Trooper Levi Scott began searching the area for the occupants. Trooper Scott located 28 year old Natahael Valesco approximately tnree blocks from scene. Due to his injuries Adair County EMS was called. Valesco was treated on scene and transported to TJ Health of Columbia where he was later transferred to University of Louisville by EMS. A short time later 28 year old Diago Meza Lopez was found hiding behind a construction site off Hurt Street by Ofc. Brockman and lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail on Public Intoxication charges. Valesco will have pending charges for leaving the scene of accident, Wanton Endangerment, and Operating a Motor Vehicle under the Influence of Alcohol. The investigation is being continued by CPD Ofc. Dial and Ofc. Brockman. Columbia Police was assisted by KSP Trooper Scott. This story was posted on 2016-12-20 13:01:53
