Ronald Hilary Underwood Sr, Summer Shade, KY (1936-2016)

He was a native of Foley, Alabama and a resident of Summer Shade, KY at the time of his death. He was retired from Alabama Power Company. He loved farming, fishing, hunting and his old dog, Rick. He was of the Church of Christ faith. His wife, Nancy Sharon Wells Underwood, survives. He leaves 11 direct living descendants.

Ronald (Ronnie) Hilary Underwood, age 80, of Summer Shade, died Friday, December 16, 2016 at his residence.

Funeral services will be Monday, December 19, 2016 at 1pmCT, at McMurtrey Funeral Home, 2232 Summer Shade Road, Summer Shade, KY, with Marshall Underwood officiating. Burial will follow in the Gee Harvey Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday, December 18, 2016 1pm-8pmCT, and will be on Monday after 7amCT until time of services.



Ronald (Ronnie) Hilary Underwood Sr, Summer Shade, KY (1936-2016)


Born January 12, 1936, in Foley, AL. Hee was a son of the late Ted and Dorothy English Underwood. He died in Summer Shade, KY, Friday, December 16, 2016, at the age of 80 years, 11 months, and four days.

He was the husband of Nancy Sharon Wells Underwood, who survives. They were married 50 years.

He was retired from Alabama Power Company. He loved farming, fishing, hunting and his old dog, Rick. He was of the Church of Christ faith.

Survivors, other than his wife include:
  • One daughter: Antoinette and her husband Scott Lorenzen, Bloomington, IN

  • Two sons: Ronald (Ronnie) and his wife, Romana, Underwood Jr, Willow Shade, KY; and Michael and his wife, Robyn Underwood, Summer Shade, KY

  • Two sisters: Iris Thomson, San Antonia, TX; and Gloria Meredith, Baton Rogue, LA

  • One brother: Marshall and his wife Sandy Underwood, Summer Shade, KY

  • Eight grandchildren: Jason, Elliot, and Wyatt Underwood, Emily Just, Erin Underwood, E J Underwood, Jacob and Joshua Lorenzen

  • And several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death besides his parents by one sister Mildred Nelson, and his mother and father in law, Roy and Mildred Wells.
